School show
“A happy brand of tuba-driven, brassy, nursery rhyme funk.” Inpress
The Oxo Cubans have a school show suitable for early primary and up, which can be adapted to suit the age, size and musical background of the group involved. They have been performing in schools since 1991 and have toured with South Australian Arts Council, Victorian Arts Council and the Northern Territory Arts Council. They were a hit with their in theatre performances in 2001 at the Adelaide Cabaret festival. The band can be used as pure entertainment (dances, lunch times, etc.); as a combined performance and workshop; or as a specialist workshop for music students. They perform in schools without a PA, teachers often being amazed that they can mesmerise an entire school through the power of acoustic music. They can set up in 15 minutes and teacher’s notes are available. Here are some photos from our Victorian schools tour in 2003.
